PEOPLE SYSTEMS REVIEW

Something isn’t working.
Let’s work out why.

The People Systems Review is for the problems you can see but can’t quite get to the bottom of.

Morning light over a winding path through the British countrysideDESIGNED DELIBERATELY.
USED NATURALLY.

Maybe managers aren’t taking enough ownership. Performance issues keep appearing late. Good people are leaving. Or you’ve grown quickly and things just don’t feel as joined up as they used to.

Over 2–3 weeks, I’ll get into what’s actually happening, what’s sitting behind it and what is worth changing.

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

It might be useful if you’re saying things like…

  • “Why are managers still escalating everything?”
  • “We’ve got a performance process, but I’m not sure it’s actually helping.”
  • “Something isn’t quite right with onboarding.”
  • “We’ve added loads of process as we’ve grown and somehow everything feels harder.”
  • “People don’t seem clear on what we expect.”
  • “We know something needs to change. We just don’t want to throw more HR at it.”
FOLLOW THE PROBLEM BACK

The thing you’re seeing isn’t always the thing that needs fixing.

If managers keep escalating decisions, it’s easy to decide they need more training.

But I’d want to know why they’re escalating first. Do they know what they can decide? Do they have enough context? Have decisions been overridden before? Are expectations unclear? Or is there genuinely a capability gap?

That’s what the Review is for. We follow the problem back before deciding what to do about it.

  1. 01

    What are we seeing?

  2. 02

    What’s actually happening?

  3. 03

    What’s behind it?

  4. 04

    What is it affecting?

  5. 05

    What needs to change?

WHAT I’LL ACTUALLY DO

Get to an answer you can use.

01

First, I’ll understand what you’re seeing.

We’ll spend time together getting clear on what’s happening, what’s changed and why it’s become important now.

02

Then I’ll follow it back.

I’ll look at the relevant information and existing processes and speak to the people closest to the issue. The aim is to understand what actually happens, rather than what is supposed to happen on paper.

03

Then I’ll make sense of it.

I’ll pull together what’s behind the problem, what’s already working, what isn’t worth fixing and where I’d focus first.

WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

You’ll leave knowing what to do next.

  • What we’re actually seeing.
  • What’s behind it.
  • What’s already working.
  • What doesn’t need fixing.
  • What does need to change.
  • What I’d do now, next and later.

Usually 2–3 weeks.

Designed to be useful on its own. If the Review identifies something I can help you build afterwards, we can talk about that separately.
